Salvador Dali (1904 - 1989) was a Spanish surrealist painter, who created over 1,500 paintings, lithographs and book illustrations often reproduced as art prints and posters. While in school at the Academia de San Fernando in Madrid, Spain, Dali began experimenting with Cubism. He was eventually expelled from the Academia when he expressed his feelings for the staff's incompetence. Dali moved to Paris, where he met Pablo Picasso and Joan Miro who both greatly influenced Dali's style. Dali, not limiting himself to one art form, collaborated with a variety of artists on films, theater productions and fashion. Dali was easily recognized by his iconic moustache, which became a distinguishing characteristic that he kept his whole life. In addition to the recognition he received from his unique paintings, Dali participated in eccentric activities that drew attention. In 1934, Dali and his wife attended a masquerade party in New York dressed up as the Lindbergh baby and his kidnapper. Dali prints, such as this The Persistence of Memory, notably his most famous work, create a conversation piece for living rooms and offices. Dali posters, such as the Meditative Rose Art Print and Paysage aux Papillons, are beautiful artworks perfect for bedrooms.
