Prominent American pop artist Roy Lichtenstein (1923 - 1997) was born in New York City, where he created comics-inspired prints and posters like Girl With Hair Ribbon and Girl With Ball These prints and posters were instrumental in launching the pop art movement; if you like this art style, make sure to check these posters and art prints by Andy Warhol. Art by Roy Lichtenstein is considered by critics as innovative, having addressed a number of social issues and incorporated many late 20th-century movements. The 1962 splash page in DC Comics' Secret Hearts #83 served as inspiration for the Roy Lichtenstein art print Drowning Girl. This melodramatic print marked in deep blue would serve well in a bedroom or office. A blend of agony, ecstasy and guilty pleasure, Kiss V serigraph is a complement to any room saturated in art-deco. Critics spoke about Roy Lichtenstein after the first release of his work, challenging its originality. Lichtenstein defended that his work was "critically transformed" and that his purpose and perception were "entirely different." The closer Lichtenstein's artwork came to its original inspiration, the more threatening and criticized its content became. Lichtenstein once, unannounced, chanced taking his paintings to New York's Leo Castelli Gallery. Lichtenstein painted until his death in 1997. The art works our members like the most, available as art prints, posters and framed prints: 1. Girl With Hair Ribbon, 2. Ball of Twine, 1963, 3. Thinking of Him, 4. Blam!, c.1962, 5. Kiss V (serigraph).
