Through his neoplastic style, Dutch painter Piet Mondrian (1872 - 1944) was known to have radically simplified form and color. The deceptively innocent abstract lines and blocks of color as brushed in Piet Mondrian art prints and posters like Composition With Color Areas, although uncomplicated to the eye, bring about powerful impact. During his 1911 visit to an exhibition in Amsterdam, Mondrian was first exposed to the works of cubists Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso. It is said that this experience spurred Mondrian's decision to abandon the Netherlands for Paris, the center of French art and cubism. Early paintings by Piet Mondrian were those of landscapes. He later experimented with various styles including cubism before arriving to the signature style of abstract squares boasted in the art prints Composition No. 2 and Opposition of Lines: Red and Yellow. The epitome of artistically stretching abstracts to its limit, Piet Mondrian artwork heavily influenced graphic arts, industrial design and architecture. On borrowed money, Mondrian arrived in New York in 1940, where for the brief remainder of his career, he worked in his studio to complete monumental artworks including this Broadway Boogie-Woogie print, a tribute to his love and passion for New York City (New York City prints and posters) and its never-dormant streets. Some of Piet Mondrian's most famous art, available as art prints, posters and framed prints: Composition with Color Areas, Opposition of Lines: Red and Yellow, Broadway Boogie Woogie.
