Paul Gauguin (1848 - 1903), a French post-impressionist artist, used symbolism and bold colors in his paintings. In addition to painting, Gauguin was also a skilled printmaker, writer, wood engraver, sculptor and ceramist. As a young adult, Gauguin served in the French military, but later became a successful stockbroker. In his spare time, he began painting, visiting galleries and also formed friendships with Pissarro and Paul Cezanne. In 1884, he moved to Denmark with his wife and five children. After failed business ventures and a failed marriage, he returned to Paris and pursued painting fulltime. It was in France where Gauguin finished many of his paintings that are popular art prints and posters, including: Country Scene in Brittany art print, Breton Village Under Snow art print and Breton Peasant Women art print. In 1888, Vincent Van Gogh invited Gauguin to spend time in Arles. He spent nine weeks with Van Gogh, but left after a heated argument that led to Van Gogh cutting off his ear. In 1891, Gauguin moved to Tahiti and later explored the tropics. During this time painted the indigenous inhabitants of the islands. Art prints from Gauguin’s time in the tropics, such as Two Tahitian Women with Mangoes and When are You Getting Married? art print are perfect rooms with a lot of activity. The art works our members like the most, available as art prints, posters and framed prints: 1. Breton Peasant Woman, 2. Country Scene in Brittany, 3. Harvest Scene, 4. Haere Mai, 5.
