Diego Rivera (1886 - 1957), a famous Mexican painter, was also a political activist and husband of Frida Kahlo. Rivera was a key figure in establishing the Mexican Mural Renaissance with his frescoes. We sell a multitude of prints and posters that feature his paintings. His first exhibition took place at the Academy of San Carlos in Mexico City, where he studied for six years. He continued his studies in Europe, where he eventually moved to Paris to learn and study cubism. After a failed marriage, Rivera met Frida Kahlo, who he later married, divorced and remarried. Rivera's strong communist views often got him into trouble when he incorporated his beliefs in commissioned works. Some of his murals were removed because of the inclusion of world leaders such as Stalin and Mao Tsetung. Diego Rivera art posters reveal insights into Mexican culture and the history and social hardships of Mexico. His political beliefs strongly influenced his paintings, which he created to make a statement. Other paintings reflect the daily lives and struggles of the people of Mexico.
