Ansel Adams (1902 - 1984), an iconic American photographer known for his photography, black and white photograph, as well as prints by Adams and posters. national parks, was born in San Francisco. Adams survived the San Francisco earthquake of 1906, but broke his nose during the disaster, which left him with a crooked nose for the remainder of his life. He was headed for a career in music, but switched paths during a family trip to Yosemite National Park in 1916. The young Adams developed a passion for photography when he took his first picture at the national park with a Kodak Brownie box camera, which was a gift from his father. These art prints reproductions were later photographed there: Moon and Half Dome and Oak Tree Sunrise. In addition to his passion for photography, Adams was an avid conservationist (e.g. Sierra Club board of directors, 1934 to 1971). Many of his photographs were used to promote the organization's environmental efforts. Although Adams made money from his landscape photography, he relied on commercial clients, such as Kodak, Fortune magazine and AT&T. During the 1970s, he gained increased notoriety when he created 1,300 unique prints valued today at over $25 million. Today, you can purchase Ansel Adam prints and Ansel Adams posters of some of his most famous photos. The art works our members like the most, available as art prints, posters and framed prints: 1.
