Andrew Newell Wyeth (1917 - 2009) was a 20th century artist, whose paintings reflected the beauty of the people and landscapes around the Northeast United States. His keen interest in nature developed as a child while reading from works of Robert Frost and Henry Thoreau with his father. He was also a fan of the film, King Viodr's The Big Parade, which had a profound impact on his paintings, such as Snow Fluries and Portrait of Ralph Kine. During his life, Wyeth was surrounded by creativity. His father, N.C. Wyeth was a celebrity and his siblings were established artists. His son, Jamie Wyeth, later became a third generation artist. When Wyeth was 20 years old, he had his first solo exhibition of watercolors. Every painting sold. Although his style of paintings is often referred to as Realism, Wyeth felt his paintings were abstract. He split his time between Pennsylvania and Maine. It was in Maine where he created his most famous painting, Christina's World. The subject in the painting was Christina Olson, who was Wyeth's neighbor.
